S-Anon Couples in Recovery
S-Anon Couples in Recovery is a program of recovery for couples that have been affected by sexaholism. Our program is adapted from and incorporates the twelve steps and twelve traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of sexaholism in a relative or friend.
We are a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from sexaholism.
We are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; we do not wish to engage in any controversy; nor do we endorse or oppose any causes. Our primary purpose is to recover from the effects upon us of another person's sexaholism and to help the families and friends of sexaholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps in our lives and by giving comfort to and welcoming families of sexaholics.
We have found that divorce is not mandatory in our situation. Both wives and husbands have commented that messages from “the other side” are easier to hear than are the messages from one’s own partner. Some have found that the support of others in the meetings have made these meetings a safe place to be more vulnerable when sharing with the partner.
We have found that the meetings and experiences shared at the meetings have helped us to break out of our isolation and form friendships within the group and outside the group.
The meetings have provided us with a message of hope. We have found the pamphlet “Recovering Together: Issues Faced by Couples”, an S-Anon pamphlet, to be helpful to our coupleship as well.
Some couples have found the meetings to be beneficial to their couple recovery. They have found the meetings so helpful that one S-Anon Couples in Recovery group made this website and it's associated blog to help spread the message of recovery.
S-Anon Couples in Recovery are special meetings. Oftentimes, special meetings are not listed on S-Anon websites. Therefore, it is possible that your local S-Anon website (and sanon.org) does not list area couples meetings. It is suggested that you inquire at your local S-Anon meeting as to whether any SAnon Couples in Recovery meetings exist in your area.
This website is not an official S-Anon website. There is no intention to be an official S-Anon website.
